The Summit Conference

Background

This is the tenth annual G20 summit, and it’s being held in Antalya, Turkey. Ninety percent of global GDP, eighty percent of global trade, and sixty-five percent of the world’s population are all represented by the G20.

This year, Turkey is in charge of the Group of Twenty as its rotating president. There are a total of 19 countries and the European Union that make up the G20: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, the Republic of Korea, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union. As such, the European Union is a full member of the G20, with the European Commission President and the European Council President attending G20 summits on the EU’s behalf. All current members of the G20 have extended an open invitation to Spain. Furthermore, Azerbaijan and Singapore were invited, as they are the current chairs of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development and the African Union, respectively. Senegal was invited to represent the New Partnership for Africa’s Development, and Zimbabwe was invited as they are the current chairs of the African Union and the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN).

2016 was China’s 11th annual G20 summit in Hangzhou.

Agenda

To talk about the biggest political and security problems in the world, like Syria and the large number of people moving to other countries.

In September 2015, Treasury Secretary Jack Lew of the United States was scheduled to meet with his Turkish counterparts from the People’s Bank of China and the Group of Twenty (G20). Preparatory and regular meetings on Women-20, Youth-20, Energy in Sub-Saharan Africa, the silver economy, Islamic finance, tourism, and agriculture have convened or were planned as of September in locations across Turkey in the lead-up to the November summit.

Results

Unfortunately, the G20 meeting was mostly about politics instead of money because of the terrible attacks in Paris that killed 130 people. The G20 changed the way the meeting was set up because it deals with global problems of economic and financial cooperation. Still, the format has always worked well enough that we can be sure that the choices made at the summit will be carried out successfully.

In addition to the planned communiqué, the parties also agreed to a declaration on fighting terrorism, according to the results of the meeting. “The terrible terrorist attacks in Paris on November 13 and in Ankara on October 10 are deeply regretted by us.” “They are insults to all people that can’t be accepted,” said a joint G20 statement. Both types of terrorism were condemned by the heads of state, and moves were promised to fight economic terrorism.

“The fight against terrorism is a major priority for all of our countries, and we reiterate our resolve to work together to prevent and suppress terrorist acts through increased international solidarity and cooperation,” said the joint statement. “Our hearts go out to the families and friends of the people who died in terrorist attacks.” We are still united and determined to fight evil in all its forms and everywhere it happens.
