Issues
The G20 Summit in 2019 focused on eight topics with the goal of ensuring global sustainable development. Global Economy, Trade and Investment, Innovation, Environment and Energy, Employment, Women’s Empowerment, Development, and Health were the eight topics discussed.
In the area of “trade and investment,” it was decided that the World Trade Organization (WTO) should undergo much-needed reform. [9] Roberto Azevêdo, director general of the World Health Organization, who was present at the summit, praised the outcome.
Regarding “innovation,” the importance of having trusted and compatible domestic and international frameworks for the free flow of data with confidence was emphasized.
The “Osaka Blue Ocean Vision,” a shared worldwide vision for “Environment and Energy” with the goal of eliminating marine plastic litter as a source of pollution by 2050 using a systems-level, life-cycle approach, was discussed.
Discussions on “the digital economy” and “women’s empowerment” took place at a special event for leaders. At the time, world leaders issued the “Osaka Declaration on Digital Economy,” announcing the start of the “Osaka Track” to advance efforts toward international rule-making on the digital economy, with a focus on data flow and e-commerce. In the case of the latter, a press release was released afterward that compiled the leaders’ messages on the national actions and commitments they would make to empower women.

China has said it will fight G20 countries that it thinks are “wrongfully” accusing it. There were, however, protests in and around the official summit site.
